Jesse Haines

Jesse “Pop” Haines pitched 19 seasons in the big leagues. During his career for the St. Louis Cardinals, the right-handed knuckleballer posted a 210-158 record and a 3.64 ERA. He won 20 games or more 3 times, pitched 209 complete games and 23 shutouts, and a no-hitter vs. Boston in 1924. He was an important member of 5 NL pennant winning Redbirds’ teams, including World Championships in 1926, ’31 & ’34 with the famous “Gas House Gang’.

He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1970 by the Veteran’s Committee.
